Home Visits

If you are too ill to come to the surgery a home visit may be arranged by telephoning the surgery, on (01580) 753 935, preferably BEFORE 11.00 am. Please be prepared to give details to the Receptionists as this will help the Doctor to contact the most urgent cases first.



We want our patients to be comfortable when seeing their GP and therefore we  offer trained formal chaperones to accompany you. Please ask at reception.


Patients wishing to attend a Medication Review, Well Woman/Man clinic, Asthma clinic or Diabetic clinic should inform Reception staff who will refer you to the Practice Nurse or Health Care Assistant as appropriate.The information and results gained will be passed to your doctor for assessment.


Community Services

Our District Community Nurses are based at Cranbrook and can be contacted on (01580) 713 032.


Maternity Services

Our named Midwife, Trina Seal, can be contacted on 01892 638633 or 01892 633488 for appointments and all other queries. She is based out of Hawkhurst Cottage Hospital.


The Dispensary is open

Monday to Friday at the following times: – 8.45-12.30 & 3.00-6.00

Saturday: – 8.45-10.15

Patients of this Practice who live more than one mile from a chemist or, through disability, experience difficulty in using the chemist, may have their prescriptions dispensed at the surgery.


Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions may be obtained by ticking the boxes on the repeat request counterfoil of your prescription and delivering it to the surgery by hand, post, or fax (if possible) or ordering on line. If you are house bound and need to telephone, please do so AFTER 10.30 am.

All repeat prescriptions are regularly reviewed by your Doctor. You may be asked to attend for review of the medications with an HCA or nurse to assess if you need to see your doctor. If the results of the tests are normal your doctor may update the review date without the need of a further appointment.

In order to comply with legislation and increased volume of prescriptions we now need three clear working days for processing repeat prescriptions.  Therefore, to help with your planning of re-ordering, we hope the following might be of help:

The Practice delivers authorised prescriptions to Benenden, Sandhurst, Hurst Green, Etchingham, Flimwell and Bodiam on Thursday afternoons.We can also arrange delivery to your house on Thursdays should you need us to.


Family Planning

All doctors can advise on all forms of contraception. Dr Blundell fits and removes Implanon (contraceptive implants) , IUCDs (Coils) and can fit diaphragms.


Child Vaccination & Immunisation

A clinic is held at North Ridge every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 14.00 and  15.00pm. A Doctor is always present. You may make an appointment for your child at other times if you wish. Most patients will be sent an immunisation & vaccination appointment through the central computer. If no appointment is received or you have recently arrived in the area, please contact the Receptionist on (01580) 753 935.

Child health checks are available. A Health Visitor is available please phone them on (01580) 714 935 for details of their clinics.


Holiday / Routine Vaccinations

Our Nurse can provide health advice to patients going abroad and or needing vaccinations; typhoid, cholera, tetanus, polio, etc. please ring for an appointment. Our Dispensary can sell anti-malaria tablets.  If your trip involves numerous countries and or will be prolonged you might be advised to consult a specialist travel clinic.


New Patient Health Checks

To facilitate good care we recommend all patients who register with us to complete a health questionnaire and to attend to have their height, weight, blood pressure and a sample of urine checked even if recently done elsewhere. This is best done by the health care assistant or nurse prior to seeing the doctor.

Please contact the reception staff who will be happy to arrange these.


Hawkhurst Cottage Hospital

This is situated one mile west of the centre of Hawkhurst on the Flimwell Road.

The hospital has excellent Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy departments.

There are some visiting Consultant outpatient clinics.

Road Traffic Accident GP Appointments

Please note there will be a charge for consultations to verify/ investigate injuries sustained during a RTA. If you plan to pursue a claim via your insurance company, you will be able to claim this cost back.
